On June 18, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, the world became noticeably quieter on the day John Joseph Raymond Langevin, 48, of Chester, Nova Scotia, decided he'd told his last joke and took his final bow. In that moment, those who loved him felt an ache only a great light can leave behind—a reminder of how deeply he filled our lives with warmth and laughter.

Born with a heart far too generous and compassionate for his own good, John spent his life giving—time, laughter, questionable advice and pieces of his generous heart. He was the life of every party, even the ones he wasn’t technically invited to. If there was music, he danced. If there was silence, he filled it. If there was trouble, he probably caused it—but in a way that made everyone love him more.

John leaves behind his daughters, Mackenzie and Hanna; good friend Michelle Nauss; sister, Brandi Cross; father, Ronald Langevin; Ronald’s wife, Gina, and the memory of his late mother Joan, who is no doubt greeting him with open arms and asking, "What on earth did you do now?". All those left behind will forever miss his loud laugh, big hugs and even bigger stories.

John lived generously, loved fiercely, and laughed loudly. And while he may no longer be here to crack the joke, he has certainly left us with enough of them to last a lifetime.

A service to celebrate John’s unforgettable life will be held at the New Ross Royal Canadian Legion on September 5, 2026, at 1 p.m. In true John fashion, attendees are encouraged to bring their best jokes, stories and brightest smiles. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
