Margaret Joyce "Peggy" (Wagner) Sheffield
1934-2026
Margaret "Peggy" Joyce (Wagner) Sheffield, 91, passed away on June 29, 2026, in Grand View Manor, Berwick, NS. Prior to this she was a resident of Centreville, Kings County, for over 40 years.
Peggy was born on August 8, 1934, in Amherst, NS, to the late Melville Charles and Beulah Mae (Lynch) Wagner. She graduated from Amherst Regional High and St. Charles Commercial Schools. She enjoyed a dedicated career with Maritime Tel and Tel in Halifax, Middleton and mainly Kentville where she acquired many lifelong friendships.
Peggy was a caring person who was very active, volunteering for many different organizations including, Centreville Baptist Church, Christian Women’s Group, Centreville District Community Development Association and was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She worked tirelessly for these organizations but always had to get away every summer to her "happy place" to "recharge" at her cottage in Tidnish.
Known as "Aunt Peggy" to everyone in her family, she stayed close to them all and took special joy in watching the younger generations grow and succeed.
Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her brothers, Charles Wagner and Peter Wagner as well as nieces, Susan Berry and Beth Wagner.
She is survived by her
sister, Penny Wagner, of Amherst; sister-in-law, Myrtle Wagner of
Waverley; nephews, David (Louise) Wagner of Waverley; Blayne (Sheri)
Wagner of Dartmouth; Jeff (Jennifer) Wagner of Morden; niece, Vicky
(Mike) Comeau of Fort Lawrence; as well as close cousins, Bill (the
late Marion) Spencer of Fall River and Margaret (Fred) Coll of
Waverley and their families. Peggy is also survived by long time best
friend, Vivian Brown of Steam Mill.
The family wishes to
acknowledge the great care Peggy received from the staff of Ross Unit
at Grand View Manor, in Berwick.
Cremation has taken place and the service will be held on Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 p.m. in the Centreville Baptist Church. Ceremonies will also be held at a later date in Amherst and Tidnish. Donations can be made to the Centreville Baptist Church or the SPCA - Kings Shelter. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
