Marilyn Jean States

1952-2026

Marilyn Jean States

With sadness we announce the passing of Marilyn Jean States, - 74, of Kentville, on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Wylie and Lois (Delahunt) Forsythe.

Marilyn was a strong, independent woman who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. Feisty and determined, she liked to take charge and was always willing to stand up for the people she cared about. Marilyn was deeply caring, easy to love, and will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

She had a long career as kitchen staff at Camp Aldershot and took pride in her work. Family meant everything to Marilyn. She shared a special bond with her niece, Linda, and was proud to raise her granddaughter, Zahara, from a young age.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time in her garden, relaxing in the sunshine, and playing bingo, a pastime she loved throughout her life. She also enjoyed catching the bus to Greenwood to go shopping. During her time at Mountain Lea Lodge, Marilyn enjoyed doing crafts, playing bingo, and going for walks around the lodge.

She had a thoughtful heart and enjoyed giving and receiving gifts. Marilyn was known for staying with fellow residents at Mountain Lea Lodge during their final moments so they would not be alone. She touched many lives through her strength, compassion, and willingness to care for others, and she will be dearly missed.

Marilyn is survived by daughters, Kim States and Kelly (Andre) Carrier; son, Adam States (Cheyenne Peel-Kane); stepson, Leroy (Leona) States; grandchildren, Zahara, Tyler (Lynn), Katie, Chantelle (Rob), Andre Jr., Emily, Amelia, Roman, Desiree and Isiah; great-grandchildren, Atreus, Cameron, Brayden, Aliyah, Logan, Addy, and Max; sister, Sandra Robichaud; sisters-in-law, Maxine States, Barb States (Aaron), Pauline Clemmons, Dolly States, and Gloria States-Brothers as well as many nieces and nephews.
