Joanne Marie Ward

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Joanne Marie Ward, 80, on July 2, 2026 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, NS.

Joanne was born on March 5, 1946, in Kentville, NS. Joanne grew up in Halls Harbour and graduated from Central Kings High School. Joanne then went on to MACK business college in Kentville. Upon graduation she moved to Halifax and worked for the federal government. Morley convinced her to return to Halls Harbour and raise a family. On November 25, 1967 Morley and Joanne married and proceeded to raise three children.

She is survived by her husband, Morley; her children, Martin, Halls Harbour; Angela (Robert), Kentville; Andrew (Beth), Halls Harbour; and her grandson, Coulson, Halifax; her brother, John (Elaine), St. John, NB; her nieces, Mary, Linda, Ruthie, Janine, Trisha and several great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Halley and Ethel; her sister, Lucilla (Boyd), and a sister, in infancy.

A dedicated member of her community, Joanne served as a member of FISHH (Friends in Support of Halls Harbour), the Halls Harbour Historical Society, the CAP site and the secretary for the West Halls Harbour Baptist church.

She touched many lives with her caring, compassion and commitment to her loved ones. This included taking care of her mother in her home until Ethel’s passing.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the West Halls Harbour Baptist Church on Monday, July 6, 2026. A celebration of life will be held after the service at the Halls Harbour Community Centre. Everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in support to the Halls Harbour Historical Society, or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
