Alan Whincup

1967-2026

Alan Whincup

Our beloved father, grandfather, fiancé and son, Alan, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 1st.

Alan will be missed forever by daughters, Maria, and Victoria (Kyle); their mother Lisa; granddaughter, Sadie and fiancé, Mary Ellen Ward; father, David (Christine); sister, Gillian (Andy); brothers, David (Lisa) and Jonny (Ivy), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Tina (Ivor).

In Alan’s earlier years, he enjoyed stock car racing and spending time at his favourite pub, Waterton Arms. Alan enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved them dearly, especially his granddaughter, Sadie. He also enjoyed fixing up his 2004 Ford Truck (Gordie), doing renovations in several homes he owned, bonfires and most recently happy times at the lake, meeting family and friends of Mary Ellen’s. He enjoyed travelling abroad and has also travelled across Canada and the United States. He also enjoyed hiking in Derbyshire and going to his favourite seaside town, Wells-Next-The-Sea, crabbing off the wharf with his kids.

Alan and his family moved to Canada from the UK in 2008 and became a Canadian citizen on July 1, 2014. Alan was a self employed carpenter and continued his construction career in Manitoba and then Nova Scotia (where they started Bear Mountain Construction). Most recently he was employed as a carpenter at CFB Greenwood. Alan enjoyed his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 9th, at 11:00 a.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. In celebrating Alan’s life, guests are invited to wear red (his favourite colour), or other vibrant colours instead of traditional black attire. A reception will follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Nova Scotia Ground Search and Rescue Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
