1955-2026

John Milsom

It is with immense heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of John Milsom, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and respected businessman. John passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, warm smile, generous spirit, and his passion for family, friends, and adventure.

Born in Halifax, John spent his early years moving throughout the Atlantic provinces before his family eventually settled back in Nova Scotia. Following high school, he studied electronics at vocational school, beginning a career that would lead to a lifetime of entrepreneurship and success.

John was an avid member of the van club community, proudly serving as President of the Lake City Van Club. He also dedicated many years to Scouts Canada as a proud leader, helping to shape the lives of countless young people.

A special place in John's heart was the family farm in Barton, where he loved spending time with family and creating lasting memories.

John's career brought him to the Annapolis Valley when he began working at Prosound. Soon after, he fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by opening Stereo Plus. He later entered the security industry with Nova Alarms, where he worked as a technician before moving into sales and eventually becoming co-owner. After selling Nova Alarms to Reliance Protectron, John remained for about a year before once again following his passion for business ownership by founding JONSECURE. In 2020, he merged JONSECURE with Wilsons Security, becoming a valued member of the Wilsons family. He brought with him decades of knowledge, trusted relationships, and a reputation for exceptional customer service.

Above all else, John treasured time spent with his beautiful wife, Nancy. Together they shared countless days at the lake, enjoying evenings on the boat with family and friends. They also shared a love of travel, whether heading south for a vacation, visiting family and friends out west, exploring Europe, or setting out on new adventures in their motorhome. John was always excited for the next journey.

John is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Milsom; his daughter, Tara (Dillon) Tatlock; his son, James (Cassandra) Milsom; his bonus daughters, Krista (Paul Armstrong) Keddy and Carlee Keddy; and his cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Kohen, Myles, and Ella. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul Milsom, David (Carolyn) Milsom, Jimmy (Betty) Baur, Danny (Cathy) Baur, David Baur, and Mark (Tannis Dobson) Baur; his sisters, Rebecca "Becki" (Vince) Norris, Susan (John) McLellan, and Colleen Baur; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

John was predeceased by his father, Eric Milsom; his mother, Vivian Baur; and his bonus dad, Elmer Baur.

John leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, friendship, and love. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to those he cared about will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
