Mrs. Isabelle Gibson
Isabelle Evelina Frances Gibson – It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister went home to be with her Saviour on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the age of 82. She passed away in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Upper Dyke, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Lucy Viner and Leander Gibson. In 1943 she married the late Charles “Charlie” Gibson Sr. and moved to Gibson Woods where they raised their large family. She was a member and a past-treasurer of Gibson Woods United Baptist Church and a chairperson of the Gibson Woods Cemetery Commission. She was employed outside the home for many years providing in-home cleaning services. She was later employed at Peoples Department Store, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Lawton’s Drug Store as a sales representative. She was a volunteer for 18 years at Fidelis House in Kentville and also campaigned for many years on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society. Mom loved to knit, crochet, and make her beautiful butterflies which she shared with many. She was a strong woman and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is also survived by her loving and devoted partner of 15 years, Maurice Millier, Centreville, Kings County. Together they enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and making annual summer trips to P.E.I. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, Gary; an infant grandson, Bradford; her maternal grandparents, James and Lucy (Grey) Viner; her paternal grandparents, John and Maude Gibson; sisters, Shirley Johnson, Maude Kelsie, Geraldine States and Muriel Fletcher; a brother, Eugene.
