H. Jeffrey Grandy - of Wolfville, died suddenly in the Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville, Nova Scotia on Friday, November 6, 2009. Born in
Garnish, Newfoundland on September 1, 1916, he was a son of the late
George and Elizabeth Grandy. Jeff is survived by his wife, Frances
(James); son, Barrie and daughter-in-law, Veronica, Charlottetown;
grandchildren Nancy Grandy McGregor (Sean), Edmonton; Hugh Grandy
(Peggy), Ottawa; Jeff Grandy and Peter Grandy, both of Charlottetown;
great granddaughter, Rian McGregor, Edmonton; sister, Audrey Grandy,
Garnish; sisters-in-law, Roberta Grandy, Saint John; Dorothy Grandy,
Windsor, Ontario; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jeff is also
survived by stepdaughter, Dorothy Gratto (Tony), Susan Arbeau (Neil);
step grandchildren, John Gratto, Susanne Miller, Ben Arbeau, Tim
Arbeau, Becky Arbeau and six step great grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his first wife, Olga (Beazley); a son, D. Hugh and two
brothers, Gilbert and Hugh. Jeff was a true gentleman in every sense
of the word, always concerned about others. He was an exceptional
husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Spirituality played a very
large role in his life. He was very compassionate and treated
everyone with dignity and respect. He will be greatly missed. Early
in his life Jeff fished off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. He spent
several years in the British Merchant Marine during the Second World
War. He retired from the Halifax Shipyards after many years of
service. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, November 8,
2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral
service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, Pastor
Tony Gratto officiating, assisted by Reverend John Mean. The burial
will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of
flowers, donations in memory may be made to Calvary Tabernacle, 20
Gesner Street, Halifax, NS B3N 2Y2 or to the charity of your choice.
