Brian Douglas Kingsbury - Age 52, of Kentville, died suddenly Friday, May 15, 2015, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Sydney on August 3, 1962, he was a son of Albert (Al) and Betty (Cooper) Kingsbury. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Martha MacQuarrie; daughters, Sarah, Bedford; Emma Faulkner, Kentville; and Samantha Blumenthal, Halifax; sons, Jeffrey (Yolande Laroche), Ottawa; James Blumenthal (Leah Wynn) and Jon-Luc MacQuarrie, Kentville; brother, Kenneth (Sandra), Canning; and sister, Kelly (Darren) O’Melia, Tantallon. Brian studied electrical construction wiring at Nova Scotia Community College Kingstec Campus, and he was the owner-operator of Advantage Security Systems Ltd. He was a 30-year member of Kentville Volunteer Fire Department, where he attained the rank of Captain, was an excellent driver/operator of many trucks (his favourite always being Tower41), and a long-serving member of the board of directors, as well as chairman for several years. As a friend, mentor and family member to colleagues in the fire service, he was always humble, and his bravery and courage shone through both on and off the fire ground. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and especially riding his motorcycle. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, Rev. Dr. Tim Archibald and Rev. Dr. Norman Marple officiating. Following the service, members of Kentville Volunteer Fire Department will lead a procession to the fire hall, where a reception will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Kentville Volunteer Fire Department, Landmark East School, Wolfville, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
